I'm passionate about guiding others to own their shit, own their power, and own their future
I'm Joe Bova - not your average Joe. I'm a licensed psychotherapist, Story Restoration™ coach, badass motivational speaker, and thought leader. I've navigated life's turbulence and come out stronger, dedicated to helping others own their shit, own their power, and own their future.
My secret sauce? Story Restoration™—a kick-ass 3-step coaching process I created to help you reconnect with your core self and live like a boss. It's all about self-discovery, flipping the script, and rewriting your story. I’m no guru — just a regular guy who's been through some serious shit and lived to tell the tale with candor and a hefty dose of humor.
Yep, that’s me. A total badass, but he didn’t know it yet.
He took a lot of crap from himself, from others, and from life in general. He believed he wasn’t smart enough, tall enough, handsome enough, successful enough, cool enough, -fill in the blank- enough.
In short, he didn’t feel he was enough.
This became his story. And it was predicting an unhappy ending.
However, this didn’t stop him from doing a lot of cool shit. He moved to L.A. after college and worked as a screenwriter and an artist in TV animation. He owned a small business -a bakery- which he built from the ground up. And, at an age when most people would feel it was “too late,” he earned a Master’s degree and entered a career as a psychotherapist.
This might sound kind of awesome, but it wasn’t a success story. Joe let that same old BS story run the show in every aspect of his life, from career to relationships. He screwed up, beat himself up, and gave up. He felt unworthy, unmotivated, and unhappy.
Then came the a-ha moment: his story wasn’t about a lame-ass. It was about a badass! A badass who survived a lot of crap and was still here to tell the story. And that alone made him enough.
Once he started owning his story -the real one- things started to change.
He took more risks and asked for what he needed.
He took a lot less crap from others - and himself.
He found joy, purpose, and fulfillment.
And that, my friend, is the definition of a badass.
If you're still with me and this sounds familiar, I’m here to remind you that you've got options, my friend. You can keep spinning in that never-ending cycle of wash, rinse, repeat, or you can pull the plug on that nonsense.
Cut the crap, ditch the masks you wear to please others, reclaim your life on your own terms, and start jamming to your own beat. It’s your life, make it count!
I see you. Behind that facade you've meticulously crafted. The one that screams "I've got it all together!” You strive to be seen as competent, intelligent, accomplished — fill in the blank with whatever societal standard is gnawing at you today. All of this just to fit in But deep down, you're plagued by a nagging sense of inadequacy.
And finally, some fun facts:
I was once invited to an art show at Phyllis Diller’s home in Los Angeles -she was also an artist- and got to hang out with her. She didn’t disappoint!
I have traveled to Australia seven times - and counting. It’s one of my favorite places in the world.
In 2022, I took a trip around the world. Starting in Chicago, I made my way to Los Angeles, Melbourne, Sydney, Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Singapore, Bangkok, Amsterdam, and back to Chicago.
I was featured on the Food Network numerous times with my business and was an “expert” guest on a reality show hosted by Danny Bonaduce when I worked in Hollywood.
I worked as an actor when I first moved to Los Angeles, landing parts in crappy “B” movies. And no, I’m not saying which ones!
